When do you need a BE driving license?

A BE driving licence is required when driving a car and trailer where the total weight of the combination exceeds 3,500 kg. With a BE driving licence, you may tow a trailer or semi-trailer up to a maximum of 3,500 kg (unladen weight and payload). In some situations, this is even permitted for a combination of more than 3,500 kg, provided you meet the applicable conditions.
